Description
Starch is widely used in home cooking. It is used in the preparation of sauces, gravies and jelly as a thickener. The more starch, the denser, thicker the dish will turn out. Before adding starch, it is diluted in a small amount of cold water or juice.
Jelly is one of the most delicious old dishes with the use of starch.
To prepare Cranberry jelly, you will need:
• water: 3.5 cups
• sugar: 3/4 cup
• cranberries: 1 cup
Cranberries must be carefully sorted out, then gently washed, crushed and squeezed out the resulting juice. Constantly stirring, pour a glass of cold water into it with a thin trickle, after diluting the starch in it. Mix thoroughly, add sugar, then pour in the rest of the water. Bring the resulting mixture to a boil, but do not boil! Remove from the stove and cool. Traditionally, it is customary to serve milk or cream to the jelly.
