In combination with other ingredients also grown on the fertile Greek soil (tomatoes, onions, dill, parsley), the giant Aigaio beans acquire an extraordinary taste that has become the culinary calling card of the entire Kastoria region.
Features of the giant bean from Kastoria
Greek giant beans (Fasolia Gigantes, "Gigantes") from Kastoria have a special taste, exceptional quality and high culinary characteristics, and, of course, a truly gigantic size. In 2009, the giant bean from Kastoria was recognized by the European Union as an original Greek product and received the PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) designation and then the PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) certification. That. The name "Giant Bean" with all its unique features is assigned to the Kastoria region.
