Description
Cherimoya is a fruit tree, a species of the genus Annona of the Annonaceae family. Cherimoya is native to the Andean foothills of Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia. Ripe cherimoya fruits are edible fresh. When consumed, they are cut and the pulp is eaten with a spoon. In addition, chefs add the tender pulp of cherimoya to a variety of dishes - mainly salads, desserts and drinks. It is also used in the production of ice cream and sorbets. However, like an avocado, when it comes into contact with oxygen, the fruit begins to darken, so it is recommended to sprinkle the pulp with lemon or lime juice. Black cherimoya seeds are unsuitable for food, so they are removed from the fruit and thrown away.
